This article may contain SPOILERS to The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

The truth is we are not Hylians, and even less Link. People often see Ravio as a coward character in contrast with his blonde counterpart. In the same way, people see Hilda as someone selfish and lacking of wisdom, unlike Zelda. Sadly, seeing our world as of now, as a community we are no different from Lorule, we are all Ravios and Hildas, not Links and Zeldas.
Ingame, Link's character is developed through the word and concept of Courage, while Zelda is developed under Wisdom. We all know that it is humanly impossible to be a perfect virtue as this ones in real life. Now, why are we Ravios and Hildas? Both Link and Zelda act without overthinking, they make decisions and do not seem to mind the consequences, for they know destiny has to take them someway; are we really like that? I doubt it. Even if all people are different, there is a moment of thought that allows us to find a path to follow, and sometimes extreme (or even bad) things must be done to achieve a better  life. This is Hilda; this is Ravio.
Of course, compared to Link, Ravio is a coward -- but really, how brave can any of us be when compared to Link? He IS courage. Therefore, in my humble opinion, Ravio is not a coward or a loser, he is a real person. Ingame, he escapes Lorule with one mission, not sell items, not get rupees, but help Link. Besides, have you ever stopped to think where did he get the items to start with?  Remembering Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, The Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, etc. We know Link gets his items in dungeons, and that that particular artifact would help him (you) to complete such level-- Why should Ravio be such a different Link? Because he lives under a concept of  Lo (Low) and Link lives on the concept of Hy (High)? Hmm... I do not think this boy in the rabbit hood is much different from us. He thinks, then he acts, he looks beyond his nose. He is human, he is flawed.
For Hilda it is not that different. She acted stupidly, perhaps, but is that not a human trait? She saw the opportunity to get back a Triforce for her people, sadly by taking Zelda's and Link's away, but let us think, what else could she do? There was no Triforce in her land anymore and she really did not have a reason to care for a land that she nor her people live in (Hyrule). Selfish? Maybe. Human? Yes.

I am not a gamer, and I see videogames for their story just like a good book. So, what is my point? Ravio is not coward, Hilda is not unwise: they are flawed, they are thinkers, they are human.
Perhaps perceiving ourselves as Hylians, Links and Zeldas, is even more of a selfish and egocentric act than anything these two characters could have done.
We are not perfect.

Thank you.

I have always thought of both as hand in hand tools, not opposites. Zelda's lack of screen time made it difficult, but you just know she's troubled as is Hilda. They just react differently. Same with Ravio and Link.
Like cause and effect, they go hand in hand.

Thank you for sharing your view on this. It's nice to know another human being has a brain ad likes to use it.
